Destination: 'Yalumba, Barossa Valley’



Yalumba are Australia’s oldest family owned winery. Founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith, an English brewer, who named Yalumba after the Aboriginal word for "all the land around". Five generations later Yalumba has grown in size and stature to become one of Australia’s most significant and influential modern wineries. Yalumba is the current holder of the Wine Enthusiast (US) New World Winery of the Year. Located near Angaston in the heart of the Barossa Valley Yalumba has it’s own vine nursery and barrel cooperage. In recent years their commitment to innovation has led to pioneering work with Viognier as well as releasing a number of Mediterranean varieties including Tempranillo, Fiano and Vermentino. They have also drawn up an Old Vine Charter and are renowned for their icon wines; Barossa Shiraz “The Octavius”, Coonawarra Cabernet “The Menzies”,
Cabernet - Shiraz “The Signature” and “The Reserve” and Eden Valley Viognier “The Virgilius”. Yalumba are members of Australia’s First Families of Wine.
