Destination: ‘Cascabel, McLaren Vale’
Cascabel Winery is located on a gentle slope, overlooking the cooling
Gulf Saint Vincent, at the southern end of McLaren Vale. It is planted,
predominantly, with the Spanish grape varieties Tempranillo, Monastrell,
Graciano, Grenache and Cariñena. Winemakers/vignerons/owners, Duncan
Ferguson and Susana Fernandez, are highly committed to “in house production”
with traditional European winemaking techniques, using handpicked, dry
grown, low yielding grapes. The results are wines that reflect variety and
soil, as well as the personality of the owners. Completely independent,
small and functional, Cascabel is fully equipped and designed to handle
every step of winemaking processes, from crushing the grapes to bottling the
wine.
Cascabel will be taking part in a group tasting followed by dinner featuring small production McLaren Vale winemakers hosted by Doug Goven at The Victory Hotel, Sellicks Beach.
