Destination: ‘Campbells, Rutherglen’
Campbells is a family owned winery established in 1870 and situated in the
historic Rutherglen Wine Region of North East Victoria. Colin Campbell was
instrumental in drawing up the classification of Muscat and Tokay wines
that has since been adopted by all Australian producers of fortified wine.
Rutherglen Muscat is one of Australia’s unique contributions to the world
of fine wine, and is often referred to as “the world’s richest wine”. The
unique production method combines elements from port, sherry and madeira
production, with the famous tin roofed sheds playing their own important
role. Fifth generation Susie Campbell now works alongside her father Colin. Campbells are members of Australia's First Families of Wine.
Tour of the winery and famous tin roofed sheds, followed by a Masterclass featuring aged Muscat and Tokay from a range of leading Rutherglen producers.
